Delou is an educational cultural arts community base non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization that was established to preserve African heritage influenced by the African Diaspora.
Delou is a Wolof word which is a language spoken in Senegal West Africa that means “back or return to”. We provide artistic education for children and adults by facilitating weekly community classes, workshop series instructed by world renowned artists, rites of passages that includes arts and crafts, instrument construction and an annual three day cultural arts festival and conference known as “African Diaspora Dance and Drum Festival of Florida” Delou is empowered through research and development to create quality and effective programs and activities. Our programs are developed by a collective of professional artists and educators who are committed to providing an on-going platform to showcase and educate the general public on the rich traditions of Africa through dance, drum, music, song and history which enhance cultural awareness and promote diversity in our community.
